The Band

Cristof' Sblendorio: accordion

Cristof' started playing accordion as a child in the home of his Italian grandparents.  He has played in various bands for the traditional dancing of old England and New England for over thirty years.  He studied the Italian organetto  (button accordion) in Italy and added Italian traditional dances to his repertoire.  He goes to Italy each year and plays folk music with various musicians.  He has appeared regularly in concert, and recorded, with the group Uaragniaun from Puglia.

Stefano Perruzza Elling: mandolin

Stefano is a rock'n'roller with jazz tendencies and a deep love for traditional Italian music. He lives in Massachusetts and also owns a small house between Rome and Naples, where he spends time regularly. He has absorbed the tradition of the mandolin in Italian folk music, and plays it with great flair.

Lorenzo Chernicoff: percussion

Larry's has a shady jazz background. His family came from Russia but he grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn. He heard the Italian language from an early age, when Frankie Constantino's grandmother used to scream at him for his bad behavior. Larry has spent a lot of time in Italy over the years and knows how to say "a small carafe of red wine, please".

Tomasso Gerubassi Schmidtbass

Tom grew up in the Italian province of Long Island. His Pappa Louis built most of the major highways in New Jersey. Tom has played with an enormous number of famous jazz musicians, but his strong Italian roots are evident in his music. Tom anchors the group with the big, joyful sound of the bass.
